HEREFORD primary school Broadlands will represent the county in the regional finals of the Wrigley's Schools Kwik Cricket competition at Walsall on Wednesday.

Broadlands won the county competition, held at Luctonians, by beating Wigmore in the final. Broadlands made 218-4 from their 16 overs and Wigmore fell short at 198-7.

Seven other county schools completed the line-up, including last year's national semi-finalists Trinity who lost out this time around.

Plastic bats, balls and stumps are used in the eight-a-side matches and each team must field at least one girl, while everyone gets a taste of batting, bowling and wicket-keeping.

Teams start with a total of 200 runs and are deducted five for every wicket they lose.
