TOM Wolfendale hit a fine century as Colwall notched their first win of the season in the Gloucestershire & Wiltshire Division 1 of the West of England Clubs Championship at Dumbleton.

The home side set a mediocre target, with contributions from Boorman (49), experienced opener Scott (32 not out) and Stanton (26) on their way to 173-8.

James Wagstaff took 3-26 and skipper Dave Sutton bagged 3-53, while there was also an impressive bowling display from Simon Cain.

Colwall's opening pair of Lincoln Marshall and Wolfendale ensured that the county side made a rock-solid start to their reply.

Marshall made a skilful 59, while Wolfendale went better and hit exactly 100 off 121 balls, including 16 boundaries.

The duo saw Colwall to within sight of their eight-wicket victory before Wagstaff and Steve Ferguson knocked off the remaining runs.

Hereford claimed a second consecutive win when they beat Cirencester by 21 runs away.

Opener Phil Hunt (59) and Dave Mokler (53) set the city club on their way to a total of 154 on a difficult and green wicket, restricted by R Vredenbreght's 4-37.

Vredenbreght led the chase from Cirencester with 37 but West Indian Antonio Mayers eclipsed that feat with 6-60 from his 14.5 overs.

Adam Herbert claimed 3-36 from 15 overs and the match was effectively won when Julian Owens took the vital wicket of Vredenbreght, caught by Mayers at mid off.

Hereford amassed a large score at home to Cirencester in 2nd XI Division 1 but still lost to the Gloucestershire club by four wickets.

Nick Osborne capitalised on a good wicket and hit 118, including a six and 16 fours, and shared an opening stand of 141 with James Llewellyn (42).

Pete Hinkley smashed his way to 82 not out with three sixes and 11 fours, but the efforts of both Osborne and Hinkley were outdone by Cirencester's number three Richard Graham.

Graham remained unbeaten on 161 and, aided by Neil Frape (41) and some poor Hereford fielding, fired his side to 291-6, despite 3-54 for Hinkley and 2-88 from Joe Emery.

In the same division, 70 from K Berry was in vain as Colwall went down to an eight-wicket defeat at the hands of visiting Dumbleton.

S Millward took 5-47 for Dumbleton before P Lyes (75) and C Sharp (54) made sure of victory for the visitors.
