THE Jewson Hereford-shire Sunday League will take on a new format next season, with four divisions of 11 teams, it was decided at the annual meeting.

A Premier Division, plus Divisions 1, 2 and 3, will replace the existing structure of five divisions.

Six new sides - Bowling Green, Broadley Colts, FC Trefynwy Reserves, Presidents, South Hereford Garages and White Lion - will join the new Division 3.

Last season's third-placed club in the Premier Division, Leominster BL, have dropped out of the league, as have Lads Club (Division 2), Rose and Crown (Division 2) and Belmont Celtic (Division 3). JD's Colts have been renamed to Hearts and remain in Division 1, while the first teams of Sporting K's, Treacle Miners and Whitchurch have all dropped out, replaced in name only by their reserve teams.

The league's rules have been amended to ensure that, in the case of clubs with reserve teams, any club who wish to withdraw from the league after the annual meeting have to remove their lowest-placed side.

And in an effort to forge closer links between the Premier Division and Division 1, the Wye Guild Invitation Cup will now be contested by both divisions with the attraction of an Edgar Street final.

The Peter Shelton Memorial Cup will now include all those clubs (Divisions 2 and 3) who are not in the Wye Guild competition.

Clubs voted by a heavy margin not to install a 'golden goal' into the league's cup competitions, where the first goal scored if a game goes to extra time is the winner.

Best Secretary awards were handed out to Glenn Connell, of Monument, and Robin Pick, of FC Trefynwy, while Wiggin FC picked up the league's Fair Play award.
