HIGH-FLYING Lucton-ians were shot down by Ombersley and fell to a narrow two-wicket home defeat in Division 1 of the Worcestershire County League.

Damien D'Oliveira (4-19) was the scourge of the county side, while R Robinson also took four wickets as Luctonians were dismissed for 103.

It was 26 overs before Ombersley secured victory and even fine figures of 7-13 from Karl Pearson off just eight overs could not stop them.

Kington were again haunted by bottom club Chaddesley Corbett, who had knocked the county side out of the 6X Village Knockout, as their lowly visitors claimed their first league win of the season.

Chaddesley edged to a one-wicket victory in a rain-sodden match after Kington had set the pace with 188-5 in their innings, reduced to 46 overs due to the weather.

Craig Millman (52) and Derek Morgan (13) provided a good start and put on a half-century for the first wicket, while Dave Exall (35) and Edward Price (40) added another 50 for the fourth wicket.

Owen Price remained unbeaten on 26, but Kington were restricted by Andrew Bayliss (2-36), who went on to single-handedly lead the Chaddesley response.

Bayliss hit 114 not out and fired the visitors to their goal with two overs to spare, although Kington will be kicking themselves after they dropped him on no less than three occasions.

T Boden (25) also contributed and the bowling of Kevin Gwynne (5-96) was not enough to halt Chaddesley.

Brockhampton moved up to fourth place in Division 2 with a six-wicket home win over Malvern Ramblers.

Richard Price bagged 7-42 and Roy Wargen took 2-31 as Malvern were shot out for just 76 in 37 overs.

In reply, Owen Hewlett (25) set Brockhampton on their way before Andrew Watkins and John Walker, led the county side home in 27 overs.

Eastnor suffered their sixth defeat of the season, at home to Worcester Nomads, after they were bowled out for 123, with 27 from N Bollen and 24 for S Hughes.

Worcester's N Williams grabbed 5-50 before his side sneaked home by one wicket thanks to 28 from R Dixon, despite 5-30 from veteran off-spinner Jim Sandford.
