A NATURE conservation and activity area at Bridstow School has been given a boost thanks to a grant from a national gas pipeline company.
Transco, which is laying a new pipeline from Peterstow to Abergavenny, has contributed £500 to the project.
The donation follows an approach from Carol Brewer, of Wilton, who heads the school PTA's fund-raising committee.
Mrs Brewer said: "The school has a pond in the grounds and if we can landscape the surrounds it will become a very attractive area which will also help the children with their studies.
"Education budgets are very tight and we are therefore extremely grateful to Transco for their support."
Transco project manager Ken Priddle added: "Because of the nature of our business, our company is very involved with environmental matters and this is a very worthwhile initiative."
