Bromyard has its third beat manager, in the shape of PC Mark Herbert, who has returned to the town following a 15-month stint in Leominster.

PC Herbert only took up his duties as beat manager last week.

Aside from the Bromyard and Winslow areas, which he will police with fellow beat managers, PC John Bridges and PC Richard Shakespeare, PC Herbert's main duties will be the north east of the patch.

Areas under his wing include Edwyn Ralph, Collington, Wolferlow, Upper Sapey, Tedstone Wafre, Edvin Loach and Saltmarshe, Norton, Tedstone Delamere, Whitbourne, Brockhampton, Linton, Stanford Bishop and Acton Beauchamp.

PC Herbert said: "I'm pleased to be back in Bromyard, absolutely. It's nice to be in a town with community spirit."

He praised the value of the beat manager system, calling it "old fashioned policing".
