COMING to Hereford's Courtyard Studio Theatre (01432 359252), on Saturday September 16 is Scotland's foremost singer-songwriter, Dick Gaughan.

Born in Leith of Scottish and Irish descent, Dick grew up immersed in the Gaelic tradition. With very eclectic tastes, playing everything from free jazz and rock to country music, his greatest musical love remains the ancient Highland Scottish ballads, full of mystical and supernatural stories.

Equally inspired by Karl and Groucho Marx, Robert Burns and John Lennon, Dick has 'one of the most coveted and revered voices of recent times' (Rock'n'Reel). His approach is eclectic and his timing is legendary.

Founder member of Boys of the Lough and Clan Alba, he's also a record producer, web-site designer and composer. He plays most fretted stringed instruments but his natural companion is acoustic guitar --which accompanies his extraordinary repertoire of traditional and contemporary songs.

If you can't wait till Saturday to see Dick Gaughan in concert, he's also performing at the Wyeside Arts Centre in Builth Wells tonight, ticket details on 01982 552555.
