THE acclaimed series of Beethoven recitals by master pianist Martino Tirimo resumes at Hereford Shirehall on Saturday, September 23.
This will be the fifth in the series of seven concerts which is featuring all of Beethoven's 32 piano sonatas.
September 23's concert will feature four sonatas including the celebrated 'Pathetique'.
This particular Sonata has a special place in Tirimo's affections and helped to stimulate his love of the great composer's work.
"It was on the radio that I first heard two of these Sonata, the 'Pathetique' and the 'Hammerklavier', and the pianist playing was Arthur Schnabel," he said. " It made a big impact on me and I though that this was 'big music'.
"It was not until I was a schoolboy at Bedales in Hampshire that I first heard a live performance of Beethoven's music."
Tickets for this very special event are available from Outback Classical Records, 19A Church Street, Hereford, telephone 01432 275063.
The series continues on October 14 and November 25.
