HEREFORD and County AC father and son Dave and Craig Jones combined to collect a haul of eight medals at the Stars of Tomorrow and Millennium Games meetings.

At the Stars of Tomorrow event in Redditch, senior men's competitor Dave grabbed a duo of golds with victories in shot, with 8.23m, and the javelin, with a personal best 37.71m.

Under-17 men's athlete Craig took gold in the shot with 13.07m and then finished second in the discus with 31.71m.

The pair enjoyed similar success at the Millennium Games in Tamworth, with gold for Craig in the shot (12.59m) and the discus (35.71m pb).

Dave took a pair of silver medals with 27.50m in the javelin and a personal best of 8.43m in the shot.

Team mate Sarah Fletcher also had medal success at Redditch, with silver in the under-17 ladies' long jump and bronze at the same age group in the 100m, in a time of 13.5secs.

Anna Smith was fourth in the senior ladies' hammer with 34.41m at Redditch and then claimed gold in the junior ladies' hammer at Tamworth with 34.86m, while Matthew McGowan won the under-17 men's 100m hurdles in 15.53secs.

Meanwhile, Greg Winfield gained a creditable 12th place finish in the long jump, with 5.64m, at the AAA of England national under-15 championships in Bedford.
