ROSS-ON-WYE'S new £900,000 pub is to be named after its most famous citizen.
Wetherspoons, which was granted a licence to trade at the town's Old Post Office this week, is to call the outlet 'The John Kyrle' after the 18th century benefactor immortalised by poet Alexander Pope.
Building work is due to start in October with the pub set to open to the public in mid-March 2001.
