DIVISION 1 champions Garnons secured a second successive league and cup double with a comfortable 133-run triumph against Bulmers in the final of the Pavilion Marches League Cup at Wormelow on Sunday.

Garnons won the toss and, after electing to bat, made 226-8, catalysed by a sixth wicket stand of 90 from Andy Brace (77 not out) and Rob Pritchard (35).

The duo resurrected Garnons, who were reduced to 97-5 in the 23rd over, with Brace's contribution coming from just 50 balls.

In response, Bulmers failed to trouble their opponents' total and finally subsided to 93 all out in the 30th over.

Steve Fortey made 26 but could not halt Garnons, who skittled Bulmers out through Stuart Griffiths (3-28) and Danny Gomberra (3-30).

Garnons 2nd clinched the Division 3 title to cap the club's highly successful season with a 69-run win at home to Goodrich 2nd in the Flint & Cook Marches League.

Phil Evans took 4-36 for the visitors, but their hosts compiled a total of 179, thanks to a good start from Greg Fowler (35) and Mark Eckley (34). Spike Donovan replied with 55 for Goodrich but medium pace bowler Fowler showed his all-round abilities and grabbed 5-12, added to Jim Cotterell's 3-20, to fire the visitors out inside 38 overs.

Crickhowell 2nd had their championship hopes shattered when rain and mist put paid to their encounter with Glangrwyney 2nd, while a crushing 10-wicket win for Ross 2nd at Llandrindod 2nd was not enough to give them the title.

Russell Palmer starred for Leominster 2nd with a quick-fire 107 not out and 4-20 in an eight-wicket triumph at Canon Frome 2nd.

Palmer's bowling helped to restrict the home side to 148-8, which included contributions from J Barker (34), M Richards (33) and N Panniers (27 not out).

Leominster were teetering at 12-2 when Palmer came to the wicket but his century turned the match around for Leominster.

His ton came from a staggering 57 balls, with nine sixes and 11 fours, in an unbroken second wicket stand of 140 with Dale Withers (28 not out).
