BROMYARD clinched promotion and jumped back to the top of Division 2 in the Worcestershire County League with only one game left to play thanks to a last-ball win at home to local rivals Eastnor.

Jeremy Leighton plundered his third ton of the season for the county club, with 116 not out from 106 balls, and notched his fifth century stand of the campaign with skipper Ashley Bullock.

The pair put on 129 for the second wicket before Bullock was run out for 89, but the captain's brother Matt kept up the momentum with 31 not out from 22 balls.

Leighton and Matt Bullock added 96 in a mere eight overs and propelled their side to 268-2.

James Hine gave Eastnor a rocky start to their reply with a wicket in the first over, while the introduction of spinners Leighton (3-33) and Ashley Bullock reduced them to 127-8 after 40 overs.

However, the ninth wicket pairing of Eastnor captain Christian Ferreira and Emlyn Vicarage dug in and hauled the visitors into the last over of the match on 171-8.

But in a final twist, Australian Neil Holmes (4-47) bowled a remarkable nine-ball over, which included three no balls and, crucially, two wickets.

He removed Ferreira with his second legitimate delivery and then with the last ball of the match knocked over Gary Watkins' middle stump to complete an unlikely win.

Brockhampton overcame their visitors, fellow mid-table side Feckenham, by five wickets thanks to 5-50 from J Walker, which reduced their opponents to 155 all out.

Luctonians' outside promotion chances in Division 1 were dented by a losing draw at Droitwich Spa.

A solid all-round showing from Herefordshire star Karl Pearson could not craft a victory for Luctonians, who fell short of their hosts' total of 235-8.

Jamie Layton took 3-74, while Pearson grabbed 3-71 and then hit his way to 71, aided by Mike Scott (62) and Steve Price (33).

But after a good start, Luctonians struggled and fell away from 171-1 and ended on 207-8.

Australian Craig Millman smashed a century as Kington maintained their mid-table position with a winning draw at Belbroughton.

Kington were just one wicket short of victory after they set the pace with a sizeable 331-5, anchored by Millman (140), who belted 10 fours and half a dozen sixes, and 16-year-old Steve Caple (52).

Robbie Symonds chipped in with a 12-ball blitz for 31, while Jim Lewis remained undefeated on 32.

The total proved too large for Belbroughton, who ended well short on 230-9, with the main resistance from L Bowditch (48), but despite 3-91 from Kevin Gwynne they held out for the draw.
