A YOUNG boy was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after falling from play equipment at a caravan park near Bromyard.

The 12-year-old broke his thigh and right arm in the accident, which happened at Saltmarshe last Saturday.

He was taken to Birmingham Children's Hospital by the county air ambulance where he is recovering after a five-hour operation.

OOZING liquids, stretchy solids and expanding gases will be investigated by Wigmore Primary School pupils when they visit Techniquest on September 22.

Pupils will be invited to predict what happens to materials as they change temperature and how some substances challenge the boundaries between solids, liquids and gases. The Materials show at Cardiff covers many concepts in the national curriculum for science.

AN END to benefit traps was called for at a meeting of Hay-on-Wye's Conservatives.

The plea was made by Peter Gooderham, prospective Conservative candidate for Brecon and Radnorshire, who said welfare reform is long overdue and must concentrate on the people who need it.

"Only this week I have heard about a young man, living with disabled parents, who successfully got a modestly paid job. As a result his parents lost their benefit. That sort of nonsense has got to stop," he said.
