AN artistic Herefordshire tradition has been revived by our neighbours across the Malverns.
Bertie the bull has been hand-crafted in the finest porcelain by a Worcestershire firm. He is pictured here with his inspiration, Free Town Maximus from Tarrington.
Windmill Studio had for many years wanted to produce a Herefordshire bull using the 'old fashioned skills' of long ago.
After continued pressure from one keen customer, Windmill - who carry out commission work for Bulmers - decided to take the plunge.
They contacted Richard Bradstock, who owns Free Town, and he allowed their artists to spend time with his prime specimen.
"We wanted to accurately re-produce its world famous character," said a spokesperson.
Head of painting at Windmill is Anthony Tomson, an artist of 39 years experience. He worked on the highly regarded Royal Worcester Hereford bulls of the early 1960s.
The magnificent sculpture of 'Bertie' is to be produced in a limited edition of 500. The first of the run will be presented to Mr Bradstock in thanks for all his help and co-operation.
