A BETTER batting display by Eastnor this week, although losing by 98 runs on the final ball of the match against Bromyard in their penultimate Worcester County League Division Two game.

Put into bat A Bullock and Bevan gave the home side a 43 run start before Bevan was bowled by Hitchings in the 15th over. A Bullock (89) and Leighton (116no) then added 146 runs in the next 27 overs, when Bullock was run out.

M Bullock joined Leighton to put on a further 96 runs to give Bromyard a total of 268 in their 50 overs.

In reply Eastnor started badly with Fortey bowled by Hine in the first over. Nick Bollen (17) and Jim Sandford (16) pt on 37 runs for the second wicket when Leighton and Holmes took two more wickets. Clive Nield (24) and Nick Hitchings took the total on to 95 when once again, two wickets fell in quick succession. Arshad (19) and Christian Ferreira (28) continued Eastnor's improved batting display to take the score onto 127-8 with ten overs left.

Ferreira and Emlyn Vicarage took the total on to 175, helped by some wayward bowling from Holmes before Holmes got his revenge taking two wickets in four balls, bowling Watkins to end the innings on the last ball of the match.
