A MAJOR new shopping centre has been proposed for Hereford. Consultants are to study sites for an 'equivalent Maylord Orchards' off either Bewell or Berrington Streets.
The idea is included in a new blueprint that also outlines options to develop Merton Meadow and relocate the cattle market - already aired in The Hereford Times.
A county council working group met recently to review the city's land use requirements up to 2011. These include proposals for a shopping centre equivalent in size to Maylord Orchards, a multi-screen cinema and additional retail warehousing.
Studies into the potential of each project are expected to be complete early in the New Year.
