Hereford Salvation Army octogenarian Owen Gulliford may have been playing musical instruments for 80 years but he is far from brassed off with his hobby.
Owen, who celebrates his 90th birthday on September 26, has been playing the baritone since he moved to Hereford over 20 years ago, after beginning his musical education at the age of 10. He has retired from the main band of the Hereford Salvation Army Citadel Corps in Canonmoor Street but still plays, and is choir leader, in the centre's over-60 club band.
Owen, a retired florist who also plays the organ and piano, was born in Clevedon, Somerset, where he became the town bandmaster.
