RALPH Barnett lifted the Captain's Cup at Leominster with the day's best nett score of 61.
Over 150 players turned out on a day which saw the sixth hole in competitive operation for the first time. There was close competition in all three divisions, with the highlight being a new official course record score of 71 for Adam Davies.

n Leominster Rankin Club Society this year chose Blackpool as a base for their annual tour and played four courses in the area - Fleetwood, Blackpool North Shore, Fairhaven and Lytham Green Drive.
Eighteen members played stableford competitions each day and the overall winner was Jeremy Finney with a total of 147 points to collect the John Elms Touring Trophy.
He went into the last day at Green Drive leading Wilf Arrowsmith by four points and Dereck Jones was a further four adrift in third. Finney increased his lead over Arrowsmith to 10 but Kevin Gibbons won the day's competition to finish third overall, three points behind runner-up Arrowsmith.

n The Ross-on-Wye Millennium Mixed Open Team event, postponed from June due to a lightning storm, was held this month with 40 teams competing. It was a stableford with the best three scores to count on each hole.

n Contrary to our report in the September 7 edition, Isa Lloyd is the men's captain at Rhosgoch Golf & Leisure Club and was competing in the National Nines men's pairs competition. He and partner Fred Griffiths have reached the final in Jersey this weekend.
