THIS eagerly awaited clash with Bishops Castle Seconds resulted in a sound victory for Ledbury Seconds.

LEDBURY 2nd 24pts, BISHOPS CASTLE 2ND 0pts

In spite of Ledbury being a player short, the match was played on a heavy Bishops Castle pitch, culminating in a game dominated by a powerful Ledbury pack and excellent tactical kicking by fly half Graham Chapman.

The strong work by the pack in the loose resulted in Denver Rollings ploughing his way through the strong Bishops Castle defence to score the first try.

A good platform was provided by strong scrummaging from the front row, consisting of Rob Chapman, Russ Price and Ben Gaunt, while good line out ball was supplied by Bruce Schofield (capt) and Andy Thornywell. This clean line out ball allowed the three quarters to work some good moves, extending the lead when John Jones side stepped his way through the flailing Bishops Castle back line to score a superb try. Barrett Price who performed to his usual high standards at scrum half kicked the first of two conversions in the game.

Flanker Ed Hewitt and Graham Chapman worked hard all game to cover in defence and create overlaps in attack with the aid of full back Dave Eynon. It was this type of expansive rugby that saw David Latchford sprint over the line on the wing to score Ledbury's third try.

Richard Kaye was voted man of the match following some tenacious tackling and assertive attacking play which resulted in the fourth converted try.

Ledbury 2nd team will look forward to next week's fixture following this confident 14 man display of rugby.
