Ledbury Town visited Pershore on Saturday looking to maintain their Banks's Division One South league title challenge.

PERSHORE RESERVES 0, LEDBURY TOWN 2

The game was played on a rain affected surface combined with a very dull day and this must have played its part in what happened throughout the whole game as Ledbury could never get out of first gear showing little similarities to previous matches.

The control, flair and even simple passes were missing and Pershore were no better and they can only hope for even worse performances from travelling teams to get a result.

The game was brightened only once, when after an outrageous attempt by a Pershore defender to clear the ball from the sideline found its way to the area where Duncan Preedy ran forward pulled the ball down at his feet and placed it under the advancing goal keeper for an excellent finish.

The second goal came from Stuart Hall, when all around him stood still as he rose to head the ball at goal, this was saved well by the keeper but only for the ball to fall back to Hall's feet where he had time to finish.

Leading 2-0 at half time, this would surely spark Ledbury and the travelling fans by now were expecting the usual goal feast.

Unfortunately the game just got worse. Robbie Colwell hit the underside of the bar and later should have gained a penalty when the Pershore goalkeeper mistimed his interception and brought Colwell down. To add to this under par game of football a Pershore player ended up getting sent off after he appeared to throw a punch at Stuart Hall.

Ledbury still managed to come home with the win and the manager's comments this week were: "Our worst display, but a good result."

Tomorrow (Saturday) Ledbury Town entertain Ewyas Harold at home in the Hereford Charity Bowl semi-final, kick-off 2pm.

Ledbury squad: Mark Davis, Pete Brown, Lee Clueit, Michael Panter, Chris Powell, Mark Herbert, Stuart Hall, Nicky Welch, Nick Stockley, Duncan Preedy, Robbie Colwell, Towan Ravenscroft, Ian Forshaw, Martin Punt.
