A MUCH depleted Bell side took to the the field on Sunday against Talbot Head, whom they had scored 12 past in October.
BELL INN 98 1, TALBOT HEAD 2
It was the home side who took advantage of some sloppy Talbot defending as Mark Wadley poked in the first after a frantic goal mouth scramble and the crowd looked forward to another goal feast.
However, the villagers sat back on their lead and the Talbot got more and more into the game and were awarded a penalty as Jim Argent brought down top scorer Mark Robinson in the box. The ball was struck by the same player with venom, however goalkeeper Luke Ledbury was equal to the task and pulled off his second penalty save of the season. The save being that good that it was voted Champagne Moment of the match.
Within five minutes the scores were level when Dave Martin coolly beat Ledbury with a well taken goal after beating the offside trap.
The Bell came out for the second half firing on all cylinders with Man of the Match Paul Gladwin putting in his best performance of the season in the left wing back role.
The Talbot defence could not be broken and the chances for the Bell came less and less. With 60 minutes on the clock a cross from the right by Richard Lawrence saw Ledbury in the goal catch and then fumble the ball and appeals for a goal were confirmed by the referee who, to the astonishment of the home side awarded the goal.
The Bell are now struggling in a mid-table position and will be hoping for a much better performance when they host the Bull on Sunday.
