BOWLS -- After the success of last year's Millennium Trophy event in Northamptonshire, the English Association of Short Mat Bowlers once again held a mid-summer bowls tournament. The tournament, held at Stantonsbury Leisure Centre in Milton Keynes, attracted in the region of 100 teams of four. It was Sellack's second time of entering the event with a team of four, and this time two sides from Fownhope and one from Lea Bowls Club made a group of four teams representing Herefordshire. Gloucestershire was also represented and teams from around the country, as well as England fours, played the six-match tournament.
Sellack's side was Gladys Skyrme and her two grandchildren, David and Nigel Skyrme, with their father Ivor making up the team. Although one game score ended 10-2 against the Sellack team, they did well by winning two other games by similar margins and three other games were only lost by last-end deciders.
