JANET McMorran can head for next week's Nottingham Indoor Wheel-chair Tennis Tournament brimming with confidence after landing the ladies' singles title at the Prague Cup Czech Indoor Tourn-ament.

McMorran beat Switzer-land's Sandra Kalt 6-4, 6-4 in the final on Sunday after defeating another Swiss player, Eveline Hegi, 6-4, 6-3 in the semi-finals of the Czech tournament, a Championship Series 3 event on the world-wide NEC Wheel-chair Tennis Tour.

The victory has earned the mother of three from Bromyard, a rise of one place in this week's ITF Wheelchair Tennis World Rankings, taking her from 12th to 11th.

After surgery to an elbow, the Herefordshire player only began her competitive year in July at the British Open in Nottingham. She returns to the East Midlands from Wednesday to Sunday for another Championship Series 3 event. This will be another important step towards trying to re-establish herself in the world's top 10. Her main oppos-ition will include Betty Klave, of the Netherlands, who is the current World number 10.

Also in action at Nottingham will be Hereford's Matthew Faucher.

Faucher warmed up for the world-ranking tournament when finishing runner-up in both singles and doubles at the Cardiff Wheelchair Tennis Tourn-ament at the Welsh National Tennis Centre on Sunday.

The 21-year-old was beaten 6-1, 6-2 by Birm-ingham's John Lambert in the Open/A Division singles, while Lambert and partner Keith Whiley also had the measure of Faucher and Peter Norfolk in the doubles, winning an exciting match 6-4, 7-5.

Faucher, who broke into the world's top 70 earlier this year after an excellent performance at the British Open, is aiming to cement his current place inside the world's top 90 with a good perfor-mance at Nottingham.
