Warley 18 pts Bromyard 7
BROMYARD, fielding first team, second team and promising youth players, went out of the North Midlands Shield with a first round defeat.
The visitors clearly lacked balance and experience with several players out of position.
Warley, the North Midlands 1 strugglers without a league point to date, took advantage to put Bromyard under early pressure, scoring three tries and a penalty before the break.
Bromyard showed much more cohesion in the second half and the forwards started to get some good quality ball to put the pressure on Warley with some powerful drives.
Midway through the second period a series of rolling mauls pulled in the Warley flankers and the quickly recycled ball saw fly-half Richard Moger crash over for a try and Ed Pitt added the conversion.
Bromyard continued to press but the home defence held out to gain a welcome, and deserved, victory.
