Hereford came from behind to beat USHC Plymouth 2-1 in their Gerrard West of England and South Wales Premier Divison 3 mid-table clash.

They starting strongly by attempting to play everything at a fast pace but US broke back to force a series of short corners and eventually found the target.

Plymouth's defence then cracked under pressure and Mike Downey pounced on a loose ball to hit home the equaliser. Then Colin Amos forced the ball home to give Hereford an interval lead.

Play moved from end to end after the break and Hereford goalkeeper Jim Wallis made some vital saves. Hereford had their moments but had to hold on against a strong finish by the visitors.

Leominster missed a chance to take over second place in the North Division 2 when they went down 4-2 at Gloucester City 2nd.

Missing a number of key players, Leominster gave a poor first-half performance and trailed 4-1 after a scrambled goal from Josh Watkins.

They showed much more composure in the second half but could not haul Gloucester back and only found the target once when David Harvey scored from a neat short-corner routine.

Leominster 2nd edged out neighbours Hereford 2nd 3-2 in a competitive North East Division 2 clash at Bridge Street Sports Centre.

Mark Stephenson gave Leominster the lead after 15 minutes with a well-taken goal, but Hereford hit back just before the break through Liam Hayde. A minute later Hayde had a goal disallowed from a short corner.

Leominster regained the lead with a well-worked goal from Adie Preece in the second half. Stephenson notched his second to extend the home lead but Hereford set up a tense last 10 minutes when Kevin Somers reduced the deficit.

Richard Jones fired a superb second-half hat-trick to snatch a 3-2 victory for Hereford 3rd at Stroud 2nd to move up to joint second in the North East Division 8.

Stroud made the most of their chances in an evenly matched first-half to take a 2-0 lead. Hereford fought back well after the break with Paddy Heathcote taking over the midfield and receiving support from youngsters Malcolm Rogers, John Mundy and Ali Owen.

But it was Jones who starred with three goals in the team's most satisfying performance of the season.
