Colwall suffered their first reverse in five games when a late goal gave West Clubs Women's League Premier Division 1 leaders Lansdown a narrow 1-0 win.

Lansdown had suffered their first defeat of the season the previous week and Colwall had high hopes of continuing their recent good form by surprising their high-flying visitors.

The match developed into a real tussle with both sides enjoying excellent passages of play. Colwall edged possession and attacked well down the right with Karen Hackley behind most of their thrusts.

After the interval play continued to move rapidly from end to end with Colwall producing some of their best hockey of the season.

However, both teams defended well and a draw looked likely until Lans-down capitalised on a short corner in the final minutes to snatch victory.

Hereford were unable to halt their losing run in the North Division and went down 3-0 at title-chasing Wootton Bassett.

They conceded an early goal and were always chasing the game against experienced opponents. To their credit they showed good resolve with Sian Warren and Gay Watkins posing problems for the home defence with some determined thrusts.

Wootton Bassett finished strongly to register two more goals in the second half.

Ross battled hard against Lansdown 2nd in Severn Division 1 but went down 2-0 to a goal in each half.

Sustained Lansdown attacks eventually broke down the Ross rearguard and they took the lead. Ross then failed to convert a penalty stroke before the break.

Kate Cameron was prominent for Ross as they put together a series of good attacks in the second half. But Lansdown hit back with a second goal to make sure of victory.

Hat-tricks from Ollie Linton and Carol Boulton gave Hereford 2nd a comfortable 8-1 home win over Leominster in their Severn Division 2 local derby clash.

Leominster battled hard in the early stages but after Linton had opened the scoring it was all Hereford.

Dwyn Jones (penalty) and Gemma Stevens were Hereford's other scorers, while Vicki Benson netted Leominster's goal.
