PEGASUS missed the opportunity of taking over the leadership of the Hereford Times Herefordshire League Premier Division when visiting Weston dominated the second half to run-out worthy 2-0 winners.

This win moved Weston to within two points of their second-placed opponents with a game in hand, and kept the championship race wide open.

The first half was a tight affair with few opportunities but the home team did come close to scoring when a Weston defender went perilously close to heading into his own net.

The visitors raised their game after the break and created a number of chances but were thwarted by Scott Russell in the Pegasus goal, who brought off a couple of spectacular saves.

Their pressure finally paid off in the 64th minute when Paul Bridges beat Russell to net the opening goal. The home team fought back and nearly equalised when Daniel Stack hit the bar with a powerful shot.

Weston soon regained their composure and Russell made a superb save to deny the villagers but was left helpless as the dangerous Guy Brain added a second goal a few minutes from time.

Fownhope proved too strong for bottom-placed Leominster and won 4-0 at home.

The ten-man Leominster team were indebted to their goalkeeper for keeping the score to moderate proportions as he pulled off a string of fine saves.

In spite of totally dominating the first half, the home team could have suffered the embarrassment of trailing at the break as the visitors did chip just over the bar with their one and only shot.

Fownhope made their domination count in the final third of the game.

A Richie Roberts corner was headed back across goal from the far post and John Morris was on hand to head home. Stefan Winstone increased the lead five minutes later when he broke down the left and fired home. Vinny Price added a third from a goalmouth scramble.

The villagers completed the scoring when they gained possession from a Leominster corner and Winstone cleared the ball upfield for Morris to gain possession and net his second.

Hinton netted three goals in the last five minutes as they completed a deserved 4-0 home win over Sutton.

John Stoner gave the home team the lead during the first half when he seized on a weak clearance from the Sutton goalkeeper and slotted the ball home.

They continued to dominate the game but wasted the ample chances that were created.

Late strikes from Danny Johns, Matthew Ingram and James Anderson gave the final scoreline a more realistic look.
