Westfields 2 Tipton Town 0

WESTFIELDS extended their unbeaten run to five matches and continued their move up the West Midlands League Premier Division table after a convincing win.

The first half produced some lively action with play moving swiftly from end to end.

Both defences managed to block out any significant chances until Westfields made the vital breakthrough in the final minute of the half. Matt Beale sent over a swinging corner which was flicked on by Chris Jefferson for Wayne Hoskins to slam home at the far post.

The visitors pressed for an equaliser after the break and home goalkeeper Jon Pugh twice punched dangerous corners away to safety before Westfields eased the pressure with a second goal.

Tipton goalkeeper Neil Smith handled a back pass and Jefferson touched the resultant indirect free-kick to Mark Hibbard who blasted the ball home from 16 yards.

Tipton threw everything into attack as they tried to salvage something from the game but they came up against a home defence that had conceded only one goal in their last four matches.
