Gloucester United 3 Pegasus Juniors 0
PEGASUS matched their third-placed Cherry Reds Hellenic League Premier Division opponents for creating chances but were not as clinical in front of goal and slipped to defeat at Gloucester.
After a bright start, the visitors conceded a goal when Andrew Watkins was only able to parry a cross into the path of Adrian Griffin who prodded the ball home. Bolstered by the return of marksman Mark Davis, they pushed forward and went close to equalising when first Leigh Harris had an effort ruled out for off-side and then Andy Clarke narrowly missed on a couple of occasions. Gloucester supplied a killer blow six minutes before the break when Julian Freeman completed a fine six-man movement with a shot through a crowded penalty area past an unsighted Watkins.
The home team were full of confidence after the break and, after Watkins had denied Ron Casey with a blinding save, they extended their lead midway through the half, with Freeman heading home for his second goal.
Pegasus kept going and Davis produced a couple of good efforts, one of which was spectacularly saved by keeper Tom King at full stretch.
Davis then had a more difficult opportunity but was unable to get his header on target and further pressure went unrewarded.
