KINGSLAND autograss ace Jabez Dyer has regained the British Series men's class one championship.

Dyer, aged 24, won the title in 1996 and 1997 and he pipped rival Brian Herridge, of Cheltenham, by nine points to clinch his treble success.

Dyer totalled 402 points from the five rounds to count, securing two first-places, two second-place finishes and a sixth.

He was just two points ahead of Cheltenham-based rival Herridge going into the final round of the series in Lincoln, but held his nerve to come home second.

"Last year I came second in the championship, so I was very keen to go one better this time. I think it was the closest championship there has ever been and I believe I am the only person to have won the class three times," he said.

Dyer, a Severn Valley Autograss Club member, has now sold his car and plans to move up to class eight next season.

"Class eight is the toughest class in the sport," said Dyer. "It's very fast and frantic but I have made up my mind to move on and give it a try. My realistic aim is to make it to the finals and, hopefully, get into the top 10."
