Hereford'S first park and ride scheme carried almost 2,000 passengers during the festive period.
The scheme's busiest day was Saturday, December 15 when 611 people climbed on board, much to the delight of Herefordshire Council.
Jim Davies, the council's public transport officer, said: "With a total of 1,951 passengers, the scheme has been successful and the figures are encouraging."
A bigger, improved service is planned for next year.
Herefordshire Council had hoped to begin a large-scale trial for park and ride in the city but heard at the end of last year that a bid to central government for funding had failed.
"Despite this setback we're convinced park and ride offers significant benefits to those who live, work and visit Hereford and have included proposals for a scheme in our Local Transport Plan," said Mr Davies.
The total cost of the festive park and ride initiative was £5,327.
