Monmouth 2nd 0 pts Hereford 2nd 10

HEREFORD and Monmouth agreed to play a friendly in spite of the fact that the ground had only partially thawed.

Both sides defied the slippery conditions and greasy ball to serve up some attractive running rugby but the play was understandably punctuated by frequent handling errors.

Hereford took the lead when Will McQuaid chipped ahead and his fellow centre Alex Edwards won the race for a touch-down. Jonathan Leeuwangh lost his footing as he attempted the conversion.

The visitors made sure of victory midway through the second period when scrum-half Dave Amos broke down the blindside in the Monmouth 22-metre area for an unconverted corner try.

Hereford Under-16 maintained their unbeaten record with a 12-5 victory at Brecon. Ross Forster scored two tries and Ollie Kamster added a conversion.

l Bishop's School will meet city rivals Cathedral School in a semi-final of the Luctonians Anglo-Welsh Cup after a comfortable 41-5 win over Tenbury.

They dominated the game from the start and, but for plucky defence from the Tenbury backs, would probably have scored more than the seven tries registered from captain Ben Collier (2) prop Dan Dickens (2), hooker Joel Yarrington and wingers James Westlake and Rhys Hobbs. Full-back Ryan Tabb landed three coversions.
