Westfields 4 Wolves Casuals 0

WESTFIELDS moved up to fifth place in the West Midlands League Premier Division following a convincing win over title-chasing visitors.

Derek Craddock bagged a double, while Alec Winstone and Paul Burton also found the net as Westfields - who led 3-0 at half-time - recorded their fourth consecutive league victory.

In an action-packed clash, the visitors missed three chances to open the scoring before Westfields broke the deadlock when Winstone powerfully headed home from eight yards.

Westfields, having started to master the conditions, increased their lead in the 38th minute when Craddock tucked in a cross from Matt Phillips.

However, Casuals should have reduced the deficit on the stroke of half-time following an outstanding save from Jon Pugh. The ball ran free to Curtis Barnes who drove drive his six-yard shot against a post.

The miss proved costly because Burton immediately raced between the visiting goalkeeper and a defender to put Westfields three goals ahead. Although Casuals fought back after the interval, Westfields completed the scoring on the hour when leading marksman Craddock smashed home a cross from Burton.
