WELLINGTON Rangers moved to the top of the Hereford Times Hereford-shire League Premier Division after a 4-2 win over Weston.

The home side fought back from an early deficit to run out comfortable winners and take over the leadership for the first time this season.

Although Wellington started promisingly, they fell behind to a well-placed effort from Mark Hughes.

However, the home side managed to regroup and scored twice before the interval through young striker Andy Sherlock and Will Lindesay.

A neat flick by Weston Holder then put Wellington two goals ahead midway through the second half, only for the visitors to reply with a good strike from Anthony Jenkins.

Weston pressed for an equaliser, but Wellington capped the important victory when Phil Bevan struck following a goalmouth scramble.

Richard Dawe's four-goal salvo led Westfields to an impressive 5-2 win at high-riding Pegasus.

Richard Legdon opened the scoring for Westfields in the first minute following good work by John Williams and Dawe doubled their lead shortly afterwards with a close-range volley.

Pegasus fought back; Daniel Stack rattled a post, Ben Wheeler missed a simple chance, and then Darren Jones eventually scored from a penalty.

The second half was more even but Westfields restored their two-goal advantage when Dawe volleyed home Paul Markham's cross.

However, the game then swung back in Pegasus' favour when Mark Holder's cross was headed in by Chris Aspey.

But Dawe completed his hat-trick with a 30-yarder and then sealed the visitors' victory in the closing minutes.

In Division 2 Wellington Colts shared a 3-3 home draw with Ewyas Harold Reserves. Kevin Michael, Norman Wigglesworth and Rob Bevan scored for Harold.
