A LARGE amount of cash was stolen from a sheltered home during a distraction burglary in Ross-on-Wye on January 7.

Posing as workmen the two thieves asked a resident at the Purlands sheltered accommodation complex if they had any trees to fell at about 12.30pm.

After they were told no, they asked for a drink of water and while the victim went to the kitchen with one of the men the other stole cash from the front room.

One of the men is described as white, well built and with short dark hair. He was aged between 30 and 40, was about 6ft tall, clean shaven and wore a cream fronted jacket with a black back.

The other man was in his late 20s, slightly shorter, of slim build and clean shaven. He wore blue overalls, a grey jacket and trainers.

Both men made off on foot into Walford Road, towards Ross town centre.
