Madam, Hereford staged a magnificent international football tournament last weekend.
The four top European countries - France, Spain, Greece and England - competed in the UK's first International Blind Football Tournament at the Royal National College for the Blind.
Not only was the organisation and presentation of the tournament first-class, but the soccer skills, commitment and enthusiasm of the players and the associated staff was a revelation to those not familiar with blind football.
The RNCB is now the home of British Blind and Partially Sighted Football. Hereford should be proud of the lead the college has taken and the opportunities provided for blind and partially sighted sportspeople. The College is also the home of Hereford Acoustic Shooting Club which has produced champions on the national and European level and leads the way in promoting excellence in sport for its students.
Congratulations RNCB for a memorable weekend and for all your work for disability sport.
Bryan White,
Hon Secretary,
Herefordshire Sports Council.
