Children's Laureate, Anne Fine, launches a unique project today, World Book Day to encourage children across the UK to make their own library and get reading.
The Home Library will encourage children to track down more favourite books - old and new - to keep at home. It will work through schools, bookshops, sports clubs, charities and the Internet to turn young readers into young book owners.
It will stimulate their interest with an innovative scheme which offers over 50 new bookplate designs for all ages and preferences.
A special website, www.myhomelibrary.org will keep young readers in touch with all the best book finds, displaying an ever-increasing range of donated bookplate designs and listing places to find good books at knockdown prices.
Blind readers have an innovative brailled picture book scheme and tactile bookmarks to investigate.
