A FORMER Ross-on-Wye family doctor who also played a leading part in other aspects of town life, Brian Spencer Smith has died.
Dr Smith, who was a GP at the Pendeen Surgery for many years, took a key role in Ross Rotary Club's Cottage Hospital casualty unit appeal in the 1970s and had been a prominent member in the life of St Mary's Church.
He suffered from Parkinson's disease and courageously featured in The Hereford Times a few years ago as an advocate of exercise helping sufferers of the debilitating illness.
He leaves a wife, Inger, two sons, two daughters and grandchildren.
