UNUSUAL Italian figurines standing between five and six inches in height were found in a wet cardboard box in woodland near Symonds Yat.
Police are trying to trace the owner of the 16 figurines, made by a company called 'Grasso'. They were found wrapped in pieces of The Times newspaper, dated July 1995.
Police think they may be the proceeds of a burglary, though they have no report of anything missing that fits the description.
Anyone with information is asked to call PC Pete Beasley on 01432 276422 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 5511.
