JUDGES LODGING OPENS -- Punctually on March 1, the Judge's Lodging opened its doors for the 2002 season. The historic house is spick and span after weeks of behind-the-scenes cleaning and reordering of the exhibits and furnishings by manager Gaby Rivers and her staff. This important tourist attraction, which now draws many thousands annually to Mid Wales, will remain open seven days a week from 10 am. to 6 pm. for the next eight months, until the end of October. During November and December it will be open five days a week.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT -- The new Community Support Co-ordinator for Presteigne and Norton, Kay Lane, has taken up her post at the Old Drill Hall in Hereford Street. Kay is well known in Presteigne where she has lived for 15 years and has a keen interest in the community and its various activities. She was Playleader of Presteigne Playgroup for two years before becoming an auxiliary at the Primary School, and then worked at Mangar International for ten years. For the last two years Kay has worked for North Herefordshire Voluntary Action. The new co-ordinator will need a reliable pool of volunteers and can be contacted on 267961. Presteigne Community Support is a registered charity and a new Treasurer is being urgently sought by the trustees.

ST DAVIDS EVENING -- The Memorial Hall Committee's St David's Supper and Concert has become a local legend, and this year's celebration was no exception. The Aberystwyth Male Voice Choir and soloists gave their inspiring best in the evening's concert. The chairman Frank Davies and all members of his excellent Hall Committee.

CHAMBER MUSIC CONCERT -- Mid Border Arts announce a special Concert on Saturday, march 23, when the renowned Bingham String Quartet with Nigel Clayton will play in St Andrew's Church. For reserved tickets phone 01544 267033. Children under 16 will be admitted free.

WAR POET -- A talk on first World War Poet Wilfred Owen will be given by Merryn Williams at the Assembly Rooms on Wednesday, March 27 at 7.30 pm.

RESOURCE FACILITIES -- Community Development Worker Lisa Bedford announced that a full range of resources is available at her office at 5 High Street, for use by community groups. They include a laminator and binder as well as the photocopier and fax machine.
