Congratulations -- Sam Gittoes has been selected to represent the Herefordshire Under 10 Cricket Team in the 2002 season. He will play in matches between May and July in Oxford, Newport, Stafford, Gwent and Worcester. The Eardisland Cricket Club wishes him every success for the future.

Oral History -- The Oral History Group has been presented with one of the unique violins made by the late Colin Cole, by his sister. It is hoped that it will be placed on display in the White Swan following a presentation ceremony in June. Colin frequently played there and his talents were captured on the video Enchanted Eardisland, which describes the ancient customs and traditions of the parish.

Archaeology Group -- The next meeting will be on Tuesday 19th March at Burton Court. The group will undertake some surveying work of unusual landscape features. For details phone Paul Selfe 01544 388571

Jubilee events -- There is a wide range of events planned to celebrate the jubilee details of which will be published in the next edition of the parish magazine which will appear shortly. For details phone Chris Bivand 01544 388375

Cricket Club -- Plans are in hand for the opening of the new ground on 2nd June. It is hoped that there will be a Kwik Cricket Tournament for children from local schools in the morning and a match between two local teams in the afternoon. The opening ceremony and presentation of the trophy for the winning school, will be made by Richard Thorpe (aka Alan Turner in ITV's Emmerdale).
