The Saturday Caf, the popular series of informal music sessions at the Courtyard, has just released its April line-up. Promoted by The Music Pool, the county's community music charity, the sessions feature some of the top musical talent in the area.

The month kicks off on April 6 with a return appearance by the ever-popular Blake's Three. Featuring Martin Blake (guitar and vocals), Rob Strawson (fiddle and vocals) and Mick Freeman (clarinet and sax), the band has been appearing around these parts for years.

Saturday, April 13 sees the Courtyard debut of top local 8-piece band, the Gentlemen of Jive. Led by Shobdon sax player John Francis, they feature a full brass section, and are renowned for their toe-tapping renditions of swing and jive favourites, as well as some classic Motown soul - not to be missed.

Equally unmissable but in complete contrast, Saturday April 20 brings the welcome return of the popular folk group The Pedigrees. Marden fiddle-player Charles Sanders leads this fine group in some well-known folk classics, along with some fun and games along the way.

The month rounds off on Saturday April 27, with another welcome return - this time for solo blues guitar/vocalist Dave Dench. Dave caused quite a stir at his debut here in November, and will again be giving us his superb acoustic guitar playing and distinctive deep voice, with a set of genuine classic 20s and 30s blues. All sessions run from 12 noon to 2pm, and admission is free.
