A glittering gala concert in aid of Hereford Cathedral Perpetual Trust and Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital will star brilliant, young violinist, Chloe Hanslip and New Zealand's latest soprano talent, Deborah Wai Kapohe (pictured left).

Hereford Cathedral Choir and the City of London Sinofonia, conducted by Harry Christophers, will join the solo artists in an evening of music featuring Bruch's Violin Concerto No 1, Mozart's Ave Verum Corpus, Elgar's Introduction and Allegro, and Handel's Zadok the Priest.

Described as "possessing extraordinary talent", fourteen-year-old Chloe (right) has been playing the violin since the age of two. Having studied at the Menuhin School, by the age of ten she had played at many of the major concert halls throughout Europe and North America including Carnegie Hall in New York and the Royal Albert Hall, London.

Deborah Wai Kapohe has performed principal roles with all the professional opera companies in New Zealand as well as a clasp of Australian companies.

Often referred to as "the next Kiri Te Kanawa", Deborah is an artist of many talents, including her noted solo performances self-accompanied by classical guitar, which will feature at the Barbican concert.

Perpetual Trust Secretary Glyn Morgan said: "this enticing concert will not only delight music-lovers but will raise vitally needed funds to support the work of the Hereford Cathedral Perpetual Trust and Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital."

The concert at the Barbican is on April 10 at 7.30pm and tickets are available on 0207 638 8891. For information on ticket/travel packages contact 01432 271990.
