A BURGLAR broke it; Jim'll fix it. The thief who smashed through a stained glass window last Thursday night to steal from Hereford Cathedral hasn't shattered the spirit of Easter.
County craftsman Jim Budd picked up the pieces and will put the window, worth more than £1,000, back together again.
An ideal illustration says Dominic Harbour, cathedral exhibitions manager, of the Easter message - hope arising out of adversity.
Sadness rather than shock greeted the sight of a crime scene investigator scouring a sealed off Stanbury Chapel - the roof of which was recently renovated with help from The Prince of Wales - for clues last Friday. Sadness the cathedral should be broken into, and sadness someone was motivated to do so.
The raider escaped empty-handed, sent packing as alarms sounded just after 9.15pm and Easter services go ahead as planned.
