WHEN Rose and Jack Pick married each other 60 years ago, they were not talking - not because of a tiff, but neither could speak the other's language!

After being introduced at a dance in Alexandria, Egypt, where Mr Pick was posted by the army, the couple decided to marry at the church in the barracks.

The ceremony was conducted in English and Mrs Pick, being Lebanese, only spoke French and Arabic, and had to have a friend whisper the vows in French to her.

The couple went on to have two children in Alexandria before returning to the UK where two more babies came along.

On their return to the UK with their children, Mrs Pick taught herself English by reading the Daily Mirror.

The Picks celebrated their Diamond Wedding anniversary, by renewing their vows at Our Lady's Church and with a celebration in the evening at their daughter's home in Moreton-on-Lugg.

Now the couple are enjoying their stay with daughter Jackie and taking delight in the beautiful Herefordshire countryside.

All the family attended the celebrations including the couple's grandchildren and great grandchildren.
