Hereford United 0 Morecambe 2

HEREFORD'S Conference survival hung in the balence after yet another disappointing defeat, this time against Morecambe at Edgar Street. Although the Bulls are nine points clear of the drop zone, they still have to look over their shoulders for the remainder of the season.

The game started with Morecambe having the best of it, and this fact continued throughout the 90 minutes. Though just after two minutes of play, Gavin Williams made an excellent run and produced a crossm, only for Scott Goodwin to head wide.

This then made the Morecambe team attack much more full of power and on 12 minutes they were unlucky not to break the deadlock. Phil Robinson was forced to clear a good cross by Ryan Zico Black at the far post. This led to a Adriano Rigogliaso powerful shot, but he saw his effort hit the post. The rebound was struck by Zico Black but the goal was disallowed for offside.

Morecambe continued to attack the Hereford goal. Gary Thompson's efforts were brillantly saved by the Hereford keeper Stuart Jones. On 35 minutes John Shirley had to clear the ball off the line and again Morecambe were unlucky not to score.

The Hereford defence was all over the place.

A little hope for Hereford saw both Gavin Williams and Ian Wright having a shot, but their efforts never made it to the back of the net.

The second half was the same as the first with Morecambe dominating the game. Morecambe's defence was solid, Rob Elmes missing the target. Then another big blow came to Hereford injury worries as Steve Piearce limped off.

After that it all went downhill for the Bulls and in the 69th minute Morecambe took a deserved lead. A Zico Black cross took a deflection of Richard Holmes and the ball went past his own keeper.

Morecambe doubled their lead 10 minutes later. A well placed cross from Paul McGuire found Norman, who took the ball around Stuart Jones before just easily tapping the ball in an unguarded goal.
