GOLDEN trophies were won by a young St Peter's netball team and by a Whitbourne football team at an annual schools tournament held at Queen Elizabeth High School, Bromyard last weekend.
Twelve teams from seven schools around Herefordshire took part in the netball challenge with St Peter's beating Tenbury by 5-1 to win the trophy.
Compensatory plates were awarded to Ashperton who beat Brockhampton 4-0.
In the football, 13 teams from ten schools fought a tough competition with Whit-bourne finally winning 4-0 against Pencombe.
The plate was won by the St Peter's B team.
Organiser and Burley Gate deputy head, Ian Burrell, said: "We do run football and netball leagues during the season but this really is the big one.
"With the leagues, because of the different sizes of the schools, there's an element of matching unevenly whereas at the golden trophy it's your best team so it's everybody out for it."
