Poetry, prose and sumptuous colours run through the work featured this Easter at the Hay Makers Gallery, Hay-on-Wye.

Angie Hughes, textile artist, uses the poems of Masefield, George Mackay Brown and her partner Mark Stevenson to directly influence the colour and shape of her embroidered textiles, with words floating lazily over the surface of complex layered backgrounds.

Hilary Mee, papier mache artist, also allows her designs to be shaped by words, with lines and phrases that enhance and reflect the humorous and childlike quality of her clocks and mirrors.

In contrast, Rachel Gogerly - jewellery designer and enameller - uses the natural world to inspire her contemporary silver and enamel jewellery.

These three designer-makers will be showing at the Hay Makers Gallery until May 12. Open 7 days a week, from 10.30am-5pm. For details contact 01497 847556.
