Ross United Services pulled off a shock 2-0 win at title-favourites Wooff-erton in the Premier Division of the Hereford Times Herefordshire League.

The Ross club belied their lowly league position and recorded a deserved victory over the hosts, who remain in pole position despite the defeat.

Injury-hit Woofferton had difficulty in breaking down the Ross defence and fell behind after 20 minutes when Neil Meek planted an unstoppable shot into the top corner of the net.

Woofferton had more of the possession in the second half, although they failed to create any clear-cut chances.

And the lively visitors capped their best display of their campaign with a crucial second goal through Frenchman Silvestre who drilled home a shot from the edge of the box.

Westfields put paid to Pegasus' title hopes with an impressive 3-2 home win over their second-placed city rivals.

Westfields produced a polished team performance and skipper Richie Legdon put the home team ahead in the fourth minute.

Pegasus replied in the 18th minute through Darren Thompson but Jim Powell volleyed in Westfields' second goal on the stroke of half time.

Teenager Rob Cooper-Tompkins added Westfields' third goal after the break before Pegasus ensured a tight finish when Darren Jones again opened up the home defence and Daniel Stack fired in. Pegasus' Dave Jones almost salvaged a point but his header grazed a post.

Third-placed Wellington failed to take advantage of the top two clubs' shortcomings when they were held to a 1-1 draw by visiting Sutton.

Fourth-placed Civil Service also disappointed, crashing 4-3 at home to visiting Weston.

It looked promising for Service early on when they took the lead through Mark Reeve.

However, Service found themselves trailing 2-1 at the break after Weston struck back with a goal apiece from Guy Brain and Mark Hughes.

Two goals from Steve Gosling restored Service's advantage but Weston drew level from Brain's second strike and then Paul Burnham rifled the winner.

Fifth-placed Ewyas Harold maintained their outside hopes of snatching the league title after an outstanding second-half comeback earned them a 3-2 home victory over lowly Hinton.

Harold trailed 2-0 at the interval after Pete Lamb and Matt Birch had both struck for Hinton, but they were indebted to goalkeeper Dave Rogers who made a string of outstanding saves.

Harold switched to a more attacking formation at the beginning of the second half and soon reduced the deficit when Chris Dzioba headed in a Matt Tabb corner.

Tommy Taylor grabbed the equaliser following a goalmouth scramble and, after Tabb had blasted a penalty over the top, Stan Jones snapped Harold's winner with 10 minutes left.
