Marriotts 3 Bulmers 2
MARRIOTTS staged a rousing second-half comeback to capture the HFL FW Peterson Cup in a thrilling final at Wellington.
Trailing 2-0 at half-time, Marriotts responded to a verbal lashing from their management team to clinch their first-ever piece of silverware.
The Cidermen deservedly opened up a 2-0 lead before half-time and it would have been more but for a good display by Marriotts goalkeeper Stuart McCall and some important interventions from man-of-the-match Matt Preece.
However, Marriotts stepped up a gear after the interval and soon halved the deficit when midfielder Justin Kirton headed in a cross from Simon Roberts.
Marriotts continued to press, eventually drawing level with a long-range effort from Roberts, before substitute Nathan Bridges snapped up the winner with five minutes remaining.
